Sorry for using “SHOUTY CAPS” but it’s important & might just be the wake-up call you need.
It Was Saturday Afternoon...
I was still in bed enjoying a lovely lazy lie in. (I’ve worked very hard to release the guilt I used to feel over this. So I’m now quite proud of my ability to enjoy a lie in and feel no guilt.) When I decided to read through my newsletter inbox. (I have a separate account where I sign-up to newsletters, promotional things and courses, so my work inbox doesn’t get overcrowded and I don’t feel overwhelm every time I open it. If you don’t already do this, I highly recommend it as it gives you control back over your time).
As I was scrolling through, I came across Darla LeDoux from Aligned Entrepreneurs’ latest blog post:
“Where Have All The Healers Gone? (A.k.a. “People won’t pay for that”)”
Well. It was like a cold, wet-fish slapped me around the face. Not pleasant at the best of times but even worse considering I’m V-egg-an, (vegan but still eat eggs.).
The Backstory
Two days earlier, I had asked for feedback on a flyer I had designed for a Deep Healing event I’m running in September. The feedback was gratefully received and spot-on, they said I was offering so much it left them confused and overwhelmed as I wasn’t being specific in my message. It wasn’t until the wet-fish incident that I realised the reason behind this was, as Darla so eloquently put:
“In other words, creating healing retreats wearing the coat of business so participants could justify investing in themselves and what they deep down knew that they needed to grow.”
Talk about Divine timing. There it was. My limiting belief, negative pattern, old story – whatever you want to dress “It” up as – “People won’t pay for deep healing or transformation, they’ll only pay for marketing or business mentoring”- blocking me and stopping me from owning my calling.
I believe me and my limiting belief go way, way back. And I was so stubborn with my limiting belief that even when my clients were only interested in healing and transformational work, and paid for transformational work, I still harboured the belief that no one would pay for a container and support of love, healing and truth. Talk about blindly believing and holding onto my negative belief.
Again.
I doubly know my limiting belief to not be true as I’ve invested thousands in my own healing and personal development journey and I know many others who have too. I can hand on heart sit here and write, “I love myself” and I actually mean it. Truly. It’s taken tears, years and money but I don’t think you can put a price on being able to truly love yourself. In all your perfect and imperfect glory.
But those limiting beliefs!
They're sneaky, stubborn, strong and very deep rooted. That’s why I love and I’m so proud of every single one of my clients, as not everyone is brave enough to shine a light on those secrets they’ve locked away in a box which are stunting their growth or affecting their health, wealth, life or business.
This isn’t to say I don’t love marketing, I actually do! In my previous corporate life, (or as corporate as I really got, which wasn’t much!) I worked in digital marketing and with my previous business, Lady Digital, I worked with women entrepreneurs as an Online Marketing Mentor.
It was working as an online marketing mentor when I realised the deep healing which needed to happen first, along with the releasing of limiting beliefs like, “I’m not enough/worthy/deserving” before any marketing strategy could be implemented and have a lasting effect.
It's Time to Own It.
So now, I’m acknowledging, embracing and OWNING the fact that I’m a Healer and Transformation Guide first and Biz Mentor second. I’ll never stop with the marketing but it’s not my true calling. My mission (which was given to me and I accepted but that's a whole other story!) is to change the world by healing one woman at a time through the power of love. That's my calling and in order to do that, I need to own being a Healer & Transformational Guide first.
Please don’t do yourself and the world a disservice, be you, own your gifts and your calling.
With love and gratitude always
